Power BI Operational Dashboard
Completed · DecisionHR
Connected Salesforce reporting data, including the 'Client Health Check Ups' information, to Power BI and created an interactive leadership dashboard with an additional warning system based on specific data trends. The dashboard included four DAX columns, three measures, three slicers, and more than six visualizations.

The challenge
Leadership needed operational information in a form they could read at a glance instead of assembling it manually each time. The 'Client Health Check Ups' data from the Salesforce client-retention system needed to be shown, and they wanted an additional warning system based on very specific trends in the data.
My role
Connected the data, modeled it, built the warning system, and designed the dashboard.
Research & requirements
Clarified which questions the dashboard needed to answer, reviewed the available Salesforce reporting data for gaps and inconsistent fields, and identified the specific trends that should trigger warnings.
The solution
Connected Salesforce reporting data, including the 'Client Health Check Ups' information, through the Power BI Salesforce Reports connector. Built the model with DAX columns and measures, added an additional warning system based on specific data trends, and organized visuals and slicers around the questions leadership asked most often.
Technical approach
- Salesforce Reports connector feeding the Power BI model, including 'Client Health Check Ups' data
- Additional warning system based on very specific trends in the data
- Four DAX calculated columns and three measures
- Three interactive slicers for stakeholder-driven filtering
- More than six visualizations chosen for readability rather than density
Tools used
- Power BI
- Salesforce Reports Connector
- DAX
Business impact
Made operational information easier for leadership to interpret. The underlying data and dashboard were built for internal professional use and are confidential.
What I learned
Most of a dashboard's value comes before you build the chart. It's in figuring out the right question and making sure the data actually answers it.
